Music in the Petoskey Area Hits all the Right Notes

Posted on July 13, 2016

Whoever said the best things in life are free must have been a music lover who visited the Petoskey Area. Summer sings along in our towns with free music in Boyne City, Petoskey and Harbor Springs – and on a regular basis, too. Pick up something to nibble on from one of our area delis, restaurants, cheese or sweet shops and listen as the band plays on.

Charlotte Ross Lee Concerts in the Park – Named for the woman who started the series more than 25 years ago, these concerts are held throughout the summer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Downtown Petoskey’s Pennsylvania Park. The Crooked Tree Arts Center organizes the event and brings in a wide variety of entertainers including some who cater specifically to the tastes of children. Concerts continue through August 12th.

Petoskey Rocks – This Friday night event has a new twist with a stage set up in Pennsylvania Park (instead of smaller duos along the streets) to host live bands through August 12th. Concerts run 7-8:30pm, and this year’s lineup is fantastic.

Music on Bidwell Plaza – Crooked Tree Arts Center’s outdoor venue serves up live performances by Art Center performers and others on Thursdays through August 18th. Double bonus – admission to CTAC and its awesome galleries is complimentary, too!

Street Musique – Music flows from one spot to another, country tunes here, light rock there… Wandering the streets and listening to a little bit of this and a little bit of that is a great way to spend an evening in Harbor Springs. Entertainment (yes, there’s more than just music) takes place from 7-9pm Thursday nights until Labor Day. Arrive early and check out one of the new restaurants or revisit an old favorite.

Lake Charlevoix sparkles and the town is even more lively than normal on Friday nights through Labor Day when Stroll the Streets happens in downtown Boyne City. Four different performers are dotted through this little town on the shores of Lake Charlevoix and the town starts rockin’ at 6pm. Don’t leave when Stroll the Streets ends – catch more music at one of the local hot spots.

Evenings at the Gazebo – Boyne City doesn’t just jam on Friday nights when guests are strolling. Wednesdays are more laid back – bring your own chair or blanket to Old City Park for entertainment beginning at 6:30pm.

We’ve got music. Who could ask for anything more? But go ahead and ask because the Petoskey Area is full of fun things to do in addition to all the music. Check us out online or order your free Vacation Guide and start planning your getaway today.
